Me and my yoga :
When I first met yoga, in the mid 1990’s, what interested me initially was the sense of calm the practice instilled in my body. I soon discovered an approach I liked, and for the next 20 years, Mike Saunders was my teacher (now teaching at Triyoga, London).
I enjoyed the depth of enquiry Mike encouraged and how the sense of endless discovery within my own body brought calm and rest to the whole “being” me.
A few years back now, Tanya Love opened a new path of enquiry for me, through a gentler, more accepting yoga - but this doesn’t mean it is not strong, and also both physically and mentally demanding!
The practice draws on many sources but is often referred to as Scaravelli inspired yoga. I felt intuitively at home with this gentle exploration of freeing the spine, noticing the breath and finding support from the earth. As a natural progression I joined the life changing IYTT teacher training with Catherine Annis and Tanya.
Traditionally, yoga was taught one-to-one; with the teacher responding and adapting the practice to suit the student. In a large group this exchange can be difficult to achieve, the practice becomes standardised and the individual student may get lost in a sea of instructions. Yoga is then turning into an exercise class.
I soon discovered the joy of teaching yoga in a smaller group and the therapeutic benefits of a embodied relational approach, which led me to train teaching one-to-one (and continue supervision) with Kate Ellis.
Originally from Sweden, I love nature; the light, the seasons, to breath, walk and swim. As a trained 3D designer with an MSc in Light and Lighting of the Built Environment, I am interested in how people interact with their environment, both interior (body) and exterior (space). I like to approach life and work holistically and find that yoga can both inspire and inform that process.
I hope to encourage my students find their own path of personal discovery guided by yoga.
